UMSL Project ASSIST

Project ASSIST (Access, Skills, and Support for Implementation Science in Trauma-Informed Training) is a five-year grant awarded to the Children’s Advocacy Services of Greater Saint Louis (CASGSL) by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The goal is to broaden access to trauma-informed care, improve training skills and resources for trainers in the child-trauma field and to support and sustain trainers to meet the child-serving system’s demand for trauma-informed training.

UMSL Project FORECAST

Project FORECAST (Foundations for Outreach Through Experiential Child Advocacy Studies Training) is a unique educational experience that’s designed to help current and future child-serving professionals make better decisions in situations involving childhood trauma. Our interactive trainings simulate real-world scenarios and can better prepare participants for the complex challenges of trauma-informed care. Our simulations were designed by some of the nation’s top experts in child advocacy and are based on real-world situations encountered by child trauma professionals. Led by certified facilitators, participants will roleplay, observe, and see the impact of their decisions in real-time.

The Missouri Children’s Trauma Network

The Missouri Children’s Trauma Network is a network of clinicians and advocates dedicated to expanding access to evidence-based mental health treatment for traumatized children. Recognizing that many Missouri children experience abuse and neglect that often has life-long adverse consequences, the Network works to promote the healing of children by: 1) training clinicians in evidence-based models, 2) improving screening, assessment and referral of traumatized children, 3) identifying and working to address systematic barriers to implementation of evidence-based services and 4) collecting data on treatment outcomes to demonstrate value.

In the next few years, the Missouri Children’s Trauma Network plans to raise the standard of care and improve access to services for children, families, and communities impacted by trauma.

UMSL Project CONTACT

Project CONTACT (Community Operations Network for Treatment After Childhood Trauma) is a five-year $2M grant awarded to the Children’s Advocacy Services of Greater Saint Louis (CASGSL) by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The goal of the project is for the CASGSL to partner with community agencies to increase participation in our Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI).

National Child Traumatic Stress Network

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) was created by Congress in 2000 as part of the Children’s Health Act to raise the standard of care and increase access to services for children and families who experience or witness traumatic events. This unique network of frontline providers, family members, researchers, and national partners is committed to changing the course of children’s lives by improving their care and moving scientific gains quickly into practice across the U.S. The NCTSN is administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and coordinated by the UCLA-Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS).
